Project Description: The proposed improvements consist of reconstructing West Gulf Bank Road from a two‑lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided boulevard with modernized traffic signals at Sweetwater Lane and Airline Drive and a new signalized intersection at Cobbleshire Drive. A closed drainage system with underground storm sewers will replace the existing side ditches. Proposed improvements also include the construction of 8-foot pedestrian/bicycle paths and ramps along each side of the corridor to limit conflict points between vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists.

Project Benefits:

This project would address major concerns raised by community members over traffic congestion and safety. Improvements would:

Expand the capacity of the roadway to meet current traffic volumes;
Reduce delays and bottlenecks at intersections with improvements to signals;
Provide safer sidewalks for pedestrians and bicyclists to reduce opportunities for crashes
Reduce risks of flooding of residences and businesses by expanding drainage capacity
