Project Description: The Hill at Sims is a 621 acres stormwater detention basin along Sims Bayou and Scott Street in southern Harris County. Precinct One is evaluating how to transform this Harris County Flood Control District property into a new regional park. This greenspace could serve a dual purpose that both protects homes and businesses during severe weather, and provides access to safe, healthy recreational opportunities for everyone to enjoy. This project is still in the early stages of study and community engagement.

Project Benefits:

The Hill at Sims is in an underserved area of Harris County that has a need for high-quality greenspaces. A new regional park would help provide families with nearby access to miles of trails, playgrounds, active recreation, wildlife areas, and other features.

A new park on Sims Bayou can contribute to a greener, more resilient community.
