New phase of TSU-UH Corridor street improvements begin

Harris County Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Texas Southern University (TSU) Interim President Kenneth Huewitt broke ground on a $10.4M construction project on Cleburne Street between Ennis and Scott streets, portions of which border the TSU campus. The work, the cost of which is shared by Precinct One and the City of Houston, includes 34-foot concrete street with 12-foot share-use path on both sides for pedestrians and cyclists. Also included will be improved drainage, lighting and landscaping. The work is part of the $30 million improvements Precinct One pledged to repair seven streets around TSU and the University of Houston. Phase II of the project includes improvements to Blodgett (Ennis to Scott), Rosewood (Tierwester to Scott), and Tierwester( Rosewood to Blodgett).
