Harris County Commissioner Ellis, Congressman Green to Announce $12M Federal Grant that will Defray Cost of Improving County’s Institute of Forensic Sciences DNA Labs

WHAT: Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis will join U.S. Rep. Al Green and Institute of Forensic Sciences Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Luis Sanchez in announcing improvements to the DNA labs with the help of a $12 million federal grant secured by the congressman.  The work is part of a $20 million long-term investment that includes the design and relocation of the DNA labs, the renovation of various floors, the expansion of evidence intake and storage, as well as information technology. The project also includes morgue renovation.
