PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Quality recreational opportunities are essential to the health and well-being of every community. Precinct One is partnering with the Harris County Flood Control District to provide pedestrian trails and other features within a recently completed 75 acres detention basin at Homestead Road and the I-610 North Loop. A small trail would also connect surrounding neighborhoods just north of the detention basin to this trail network.

PROJECT UPDATES:

A Community meeting to gather input was held on December 2, 2020.

PROJECT BENEFITS:

While the Homestead Detention Basin is primarily designed to mitigate flooding along Hunting Bayou, the site can also provide much needed natural greenspace to a historically underserved neighborhood. The addition of trails can provide healthy recreational opportunities for people of all ages.
