Creating equitable, fair and just policies is only the first step in delivering responsive public service to Harris County residents.

Precinct One’s initiatives are the action of delivering those policies to residents to meet the goals and objectives of each policy. Reflective of our priorities, Precinct One’s initiatives respond to the needs of our community.

Our initiatives strive to incorporate equity, fairness and justice into the equation, including addressing community health by securing access to food, creating a county department to address economic inequity and ensuring fair, free, and safe elections.

Our current initiatives include:

Responding to the COVID-19 pandemic
Providing access to food insecurity with HEALTHY EATING programs
Encouraging HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS
Honoring those who fought for justice with our MOVING MONUMENTS public art
Creating an MWBE PROGRAM to combat economic inequity
Recognizing the impact of structural & institutionalized racism on communities of color and creating awareness with the RACISM IS A PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS campaign
Facing a history of racial terror with the REMEMBRANCE PROJECT
Offering alternative transportation to under-served communities through the RIDE ONE BIKE INITIATIVE
