PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Every neighborhood deserves to have safe, high-quality streets, no matter what ZIP Code you live in. Reconstructing Anderson Road from Hiram Clarke to Almeda Road will include improvements to the existing roadway, drainage system, and sidewalks so that every road user can safely use the street.

The existing two-lane asphalt road will be upgraded to a concrete roadway with added turn lanes at intersections and a new traffic signal at the Hiram Clark intersection. To reduce street flooding, the current roadside ditches will be replaced with underground storm sewers and a detention pond that will hold more than 5.8 million gallons of water, enough to fill 9 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Eight-to-ten foot wide sidewalks will be added to both sides of the roadway to provide safe access for pedestrians.

This project is divided into two sections:

  • Section 1 - Hiram Clarke Drive to the Harris County Flood Control District Channel near Jupiter Road.
  • Section 2 – Flood Control Channel near Jupiter Road to Almeda Road.

PROJECT BENEFITS:

Anderson Road reconstruction will improve quality of life for everyone in the neighborhood by:

  • Improving safety, traffic flow, and reducing bottlenecks
  • Expanding access to transit, schools, businesses, and other destinations
