From aspiring athletes to future environmentalists, the Street Olympics has something for everyone.

The Street Olympics is a non-profit organization that encompasses a network of recreational, educational, and health programs primarily serving youth between the ages of 6 and 16. During the summer, Street Olympics programming is dedicated to the Summer Games, Discovery Camp, 3-on-3 Basketball, and Final Event. Each program is hosted by multiple youth agencies in neighborhoods across the county.

The Street Olympics year-round programs include the Harris County Aquatics Program (HCAP), the Northeast Adolescent Program (NEAP), and the Environmental Education program. Street Olympics now serves thousands of youth annually. To learn more about how you can sign up or be involved as a volunteer in the Street Olympics.

Summer Games

The Summer Games organizes an Olympic-style competition based on traditional “street games.” It is made up of several components that are provided over ten weeks each summer.

  • The Preliminary Games take place at agencies across Harris County. At each site, staff and agency partners help train youth in various games like basketball, hula hoop, and hopscotch.
  • The 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament teaches leadership, discipline, and the value of teamwork. The program is an intensely competitive summer league that lasts for five weeks. In July, the championship tournament brings together teams from participating agencies for a two-day event.
  • The Summer Games culminate in the Final Event, an Olympic-style competition hosted at NRG Arena. The Final Event has a grand opening ceremony, games, and activities, medal presentations, and hosts the Bright Futures Fair.
  • The Bright Futures Fair brings together booth vendors from around the county during the Final Event, including county agencies, local schools, colleges, area museums, and private companies, to inform and stimulate learning in a fun-filled environment.
