Summerwood Sidewalks

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Everyone should feel safe walking or biking around their neighborhood. To improve safety in the Summerwood area, Harris County Precinct One has completed nearly 2 miles of 6-to-8 foot wide sidewalks along both sides of West Lake Houston Parkway from Beltway 8 to Broncroft Court. The project also includes improvements to Woodson Park Drive, Timber Forest Drive, and around Beltway 8. Precinct One has partnered with Municipal Utility Districts 342, 344, and 361 on this project.
Phase Two completes a segment of sidewalks between Woodson Park Drive and Hunters Lake Way.

PROJECT BENEFITS:

The sidewalks will greatly improve the Summerwood community by adding:

• Safety for people walking and driving
• Connections between neighborhoods and parks, retail centers, and schools along the corridor
• Safe access to Wood Creek Middle School and Summer Creek High School by repairing sidewalk gaps along Woodson Park Drive, Timber Forest Drive, and under Beltway 8
• Barrier-free ramps and a pedestrian crossing signal at Woodson Park Drive and Beltway 8
• A left turn lane onto Broncroft Court from West Lake Houston Parkway to reduce traffic bottlenecks
