PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This project will reconstruct the boardwalk, parking lot, and sailboat ramp along the park’s frontage on Lake Houston. It will also provide a new trail connecting the existing and proposed pedestrian bicycle trail system within Deussen Park. The boardwalk and trail will add the 0.85-mile missing trail link and is envisioned as part of the overall trail system connecting Deussen and Eisenhower Parks to the Summerwood community.
PROJECT BENEFITS:
Once completed, these improvements will:
- Construct new concrete trails from the waterfront to Eisenhower Park, including a signature bridge to connect the 2 parks together
- Update the boat ramp with the new bulkhead, boardwalk, sailboat ramp, and floating dock
- Reconfigure the parking lot to have proper parking for boaters and normal vehicles
- Improve drainage and reduce impervious surface
- Improve accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists
- Enhance the park user experience
