PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Safe, accessible trails and bikeways are an important part of healthy, growing neighborhoods. A 10’ wide concrete trail along Deussen Parkway will create safer, easier access for people walking and biking between Summerwood neighborhoods, Deussen Park and local businesses. In addition to constructing about 1.5 miles of concrete trail between Deussen Park and W. Lake Houston Parkway, the improvements also includes upgrades to the traffic signal at Deussen Parkway and W. Lake Houston and new crossings at the intersections of Sunny Health Ln., Summerstorm Ln., Sunland Gardens Ln., and Misty Cloud Ln.

GLOW STONES LIGHT UP DEUSSEN PARKWAY TRAIL

The newly completed Deussen Parkway Trail, which connects Summerwood residents to Deussen Park via 1.5 miles of safe 10’ wide walking and biking pathway, includes an innovative pilot-program utilizing glow stones to help increase visibility in the evening. This inexpensive solar-powered light source will light the trail throughout the night. Once this pilot project has been reviewed for effectiveness, the Development & Infrastructure department will consider incorporating glow stones in other precinct projects. ail users.

  • Expand access to parks and greenspaces
  • Increase access to healthy active recreational opportunities
